[ suh-stey-nuh-bil-i-tee ] noun

1. The ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level.

2. Environmental Science. The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance.

Why is environmental sustainability important?

For many years, it has been widely recognised by many individuals, communities and businesses, the damage that has been inflicted on the plants and animals we share our planet with, it has only been in recent years that this has come to the forefront of global issues.

When it comes to our air, our rivers and our oceans, boundaries and borders, whether local, national or international don’t exist, which is why environmental sustainability is something that should be so important to us.

Exponential population growth has led to increased farming, which leads to greater greenhouse gas emissions and deforestation. Industrial and technological growth means we need more power than ever. However, the planet will not be able to sustain our use of its resources at its current rate forever.

We are already beginning to see the consequences of our plundering of the earth’s resources through the impact that global warming is having on ecosystems and communities. That’s why we are striving at the very least to take a sustainable approach where possible to help secure a liveable future.

What are we doing to help?

We have implemented numerous strategies in order to play our part in the global drive for sustainability.

The chicken we use in our delicious nuggets is both free-run and responsibly sourced and the Atlantic salmon we use in our salmon skin twirls is also sustainably sourced!

Alongside these practices that we have implemented with our ingredients, we have also put measures in place when it comes to how we package our scrumptious treats!

Our postal packaging is 100% recyclable and all of our packaging is 100% plastic free. Not only that, but we have teamed up with Paper Wise on the packaging for our pouches, making them 100% compostable! Our Paper Wise pouches are made from agricultural waste (leaves and stems) using 100% green energy.
